Hi,
Your article about Everett & Jones got me thinking.
Having lived in the Bay Area for over 15 years, E&J
was always one of my top spots for ribs (along with
Flynt's, of course, as well as a place in San Jose-
the name of which escapes me at the
present)...however, the E&J branch on Third St. in
South SF (closed after the earthquake of '89) and the
one on San Pablo St. in Berkeley were the only ones
I'd ever eaten at, so I was sorry to read that you
were disappointed with the Hayward Branch's rendition
of BBQ.
However, it did get me thinking as to why Manhattan is
so devoid of decent ribs.
So...has anyone tried a place called Mitch's Place (no
relation). It's at 134 Reade in Tribeca, 226-8928.
It has been a good 6 months since I tried it, and
while nowhere near Flynt's or E&J's, I though it was
somewhat respectable (or maybe I was just so starved
for Barbecue that my taste buds did a double take!).
