Felidia
STOP! Go instead to any nearby ORIGINAL RAYS, enjoy a
slice for $1.75 and pocket the difference. My family
and I were mighty disappointed and hundreds of dollars
poorer. Overcooked pasta, overpriced wine list,
hostile service and an unimaginative menu left our
party of 8 very let down. Trying to spread the word
since management was so unresponsive to our complaints
the evening of this egregious event.
Are we the only ones left poor and bitter after dining
here?

I sure hope Lidia or one of her staff read these posts. As an aerospace quality manager, I can attest to the fact that you learn MORE from your dissatisfied cutomers.

Regardless of the date of the original posting, my recent trip to Felidia was nothing to write home about. I mentioned my dissatisfaction to the manager, who seemed to be attentive, but offered no consolation nor obvious sympathy to our experience. I've responded to posts of a more advanced age than this one, in the hopes that any feedback is better than none. It seems that nothing at Felidia has much improved.

I've always wanted to have dinner at Felidia but have never done so.
What I do do every year is take advantage of their $19.9? lunch all summer long. Felidia consistently puts a great deal of thought into the menu and offers many choices. By the end of the summer, I've usually tasted everything on the menu (which changes often) and have never been dissappointed. Rather, Ithink it's on of New York's great bargains.
So - save the expensive dinner for Grammercy Park or your expense account and try Felidia by day from Restaurant Week thru Labor Day.›2 Replies-
re: JM-NYC
My 81 year old mother was in tears after leaving Felidia. The dinner was fair, though pricy. Portions very small. The ravoli so thin that we laughed at the "wedding pillows" description. The cookies were smaller than a postage stamp! But it was the rude and inattentive service that ruined our evening. The Maitre d', who never checked in with us after taking our order, came over to our table at the end of our evening and said, "perhaps you have seen or found a wallet under or around your table?" He went on to explain that the elderly couple who were sitting nearby lost it. He added that they were, "regular customers". Obviously, we were not. He did not ask anyone else in the restaurant, even the people who were now sitting at the table that the elderly couple had vacated, about the wallet. No, only us, as we were not 'regular customers". The inference was that we had "found" the wallet, but that we didn't turn it in. When I mentioned quietly to the maitre d' on the way out of Felidia, that we felt insulted and singled out, as we were not "regular customers" and he did not speak to any other customer in Felidia, he grabbed my hands and escorted me outside to the sidewalk, to "talk". There he quickly tried to dispose of us. My mother, who is a huge fan of Lidia and who looked forward to her 81 year old birthday celebration at Felidia, was so upset, she cried. The evening left only a bitter taste in our mouths. After speaking to a manager the next day who listened and then said, "the general manager will get back to you" and after several voice mails and messages to the general manager requesting a call back, that remain unanswered, we are are still left to wonder, how we could spend close to $400 for a party of four and come away with a bitter after taste and an empty feeling. We have dined at Beco and at some of the finest restaurants in Italy and France. Never have we had an experience such as this. How very unfortuante.

re: intown
What an awful experience for your family. I've always found the service to be lacking at Felidia, but based on your experience, I will never take my 85 year old mother (who is also a big fan of Lidia and has wanted to go there for dinner) or anyone else there ever! I hope you post your story on the other foodie websites to spread the warning.

re: scottreiner
I had one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a
long time at Felidia. The pasta was average - if
you're looking for wonderful pasta, I suggest I Trulli.
My husband's entree (veal cheeks) was quite good,
however, everything else that we had, from appetizers
to dessert, does not warrant any praise.
Spend your money somewhere else.
