Bleu in Washington Heights

This very chi-chi, very beautiful spot just opened on
187 between Pinehurst and Fort Washington. Great
Mediterranean/Asian food, fabulous decor, unique
competition-less location. There are some kinks to be
worked out, especially in service, but overall a
welcome finer dining experience in the Heights.
Plusses: the red snapper, the potato-leek soup, the
gazpacho, the salads. Minuses: the coffee (!!), the Pad
Thai (and the chef IS Thai, so it's very surprisingly
bad) and the South African Pinotage. Crowded from early
on, but at least the bar/lounge is comfortable, open-
air and one can smoke there while waiting.
