Craving Bagels and Appetizing in Richmond

Can anyone recommend an appetizing shop and bagel bakery in Richmond, Virginia?

These are my favorite foods but I can't find them here.

This may be a dumb question, but what is an appetizing shop?

Good bagels are hard to come by in Richmond. Lots of "okay" bagels...Ukrops, Einsteins, and a few pretty bad ones, like Panera.

There is a little coffee/sandwich/ice cream shop on Hull Street called The French Quarter and they get H&H bagels shipped from New York (they also sell Gelati Celeste ice cream and make their own hummus) and they are as good as I have found in Richmond.

Richmond really doesn't have a good bakery. So it's unlikely for you to find a good bagel.

I don't live in Richmond, so I can't help you out with any suggestions there. However, Russ & Daughters, the famous NYC appetizing store, does mail orders.

You can get H&H bagels at Ellwood Thompsons, they get them in unbaked from NYC and bake them there, and they are delish.

Does anyone know where to get Italian Ices in Richmond, VA?

Yeah, the H&H bagels at ETs are about the best you'll get here. As for the rest? Oy. I'm tempted to say Fresh Market at Parham and Quioccasin is the best bet. European Market at Meadow and Main comes to mind too, but they're much smaller.
