Has anybody been to Cork on Haddon Ave in Westmont? We're thinking about going tonight and I'm surprised that I really haven't heard anything about it. Thanks in advance for any info you might be able to share.

We were there a couple of months ago. The owner was bragging to a friend outside how he had just fired the chef. The food was less than memorable. They have a new chef now, perhaps things have changed.

In my opinion, there are many superior restaurants in the area.

i really liked it when i went in for bar food and drinks. had a great order of steak frites. they have a great selction of beer and wine by the glass. it's a nice alternative to the other bars on haddon avenue, a real step up. we'll go back.

So we did go last Thursday night. For Westmont (and even the general environs) I was relatively pleased with the experience. We shared a field green salad with goat cheese and candied walnuts that was ample in size and light and tasty. My partner had the lobster special for $20. It came with a piece of grilled corn and some roasted potatos. It was a nice size lobster for the price, but a bit over-cooked. I had the tilapia quesadilla (appetizer portion which I chose for my entree). It was good but not great. I agree with Potterstreet that the beer and wine-by-the-glass selections are pretty great (again, compared to other options in the area). I'm pretty sure they have a separate bar menu. I'd definitely go back to check that out and see what's new on tap.

All in all, not a bad experience. A decent option for an area that is generally lacking.

Thanks to those who offered input.

I have been going to cork on and off for about 4 months. I have found it to be a good, the service good and the prices will not kill ya. Its reminds me of Carlys Grand in Arlington VA. (Sherlington). I have found the bartenders professional, quick and polite. The servers are from the area and they do a good job for young kids. The food is good. WOuld much rather spend the extra 20.00 bucks here than at a fridays or ruby tuesdays

I guess when they closed the Inn on the Ave the old age home needed somewhere to dump their clients during the day, because that's what my friends and i found here. Old people, super expensive for little drinks, obnoxious staff. This place should close cause they've obviously stopped trying!

Pros: Parking lot was empty so we could leave quickly
        Cons: food, atmosphere, prices

Interesting post because my experience has been different. We find it to be a fairly diverse crowd in terms of age. We like Monday evenings for half price bottles of wine. They also have a nice selection of beer on tap. There is a reasonable bar menu and they have this deal where you can got three decent sized appetizers from a special menu for $21.00 or thereabouts. The bar staff - especially Cindy - has been nothing but really nice.

Sorry that you had such a bad experience - ours has been really positive.

Your comment about Inn on the Avenue made me laugh though.
