I myself started 'round 10 on Saturday with a perfect, unpretentious mocha at PickMeUp at 9th & Folsom. Took the N to Cole Valley for my first visit to Say Cheese... then on to 9th Ave for a grilled cheese & tomato sandwich on huge, fresh slices of honey wheat at Einstein's cafe. Across the street I found Arizmendi - oft mentioned on this board. I have a new addiction - "chocolate things" - those little brioche-style breads studded with deliciously dark chocolate chips. Popped back on the N heading inbound... on to Hayes Valley. Stopped at Amphora Wine Merchants to pick up a few bottles - found two lovely Spanish wines (Onix Priorat '99, Borsao Tres Picos Garnacha '00) plus a neat Australian white, "Stump Jumper", a 75%/25% blend of Riesling and Marsanne.
