Lakewood NJ?

I will be taking my aunt to dinner to celebrate her retirement. Big event, small group, there will only be four of us. We'd prefer quality food and a friendly, interesting place to spend some to the standard glitz. I'd like to say money is no object, but I'd be lying. We probably could push the upper end of moderate, though. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jonathan

I have to disagree with davecool's recommendation. Under its original ownership, PG had received some good reviews. However, since the ownership change, I have yet to hear anything positive about the place. If you want quality food and excellent service, your only choice is to travel 10 mins. south to Bistro44 in Toms River. Good Luck and please report back.

What bgut said. Bistro 44 is certainly the best choice in the area. A short drive down Rt 9 from Lakewood.

Depending on the day and time, be sure to make a reservation.
      Enjoy your dinner!

Travel about 10-15 min north on Rt 9 to Christie's Italian Seafood Grill or the Bamboo Leaf (Thai). Both have excellent food and are on the higher end of moderate. They are housed in the same shopping mall so you can compare menus if you like. Christie's gets incredibly packed on weekends so be sure to make reservations.
