Terry's Southern Style Fish & BBQ, Santa Rosa

Tonight was a return visit for a real meal at Terry's in the Roseland business district of Santa Rosa off Sebastopol Road. I'd had a sample of the 'cue shortly after opening (linked below), and Mark B's recent post (http://chowhound.com/california/board...) reminded me that it was time to go back.
I had the catfish dinner ($10.95) which comes with two sides and choice of bread. I picked the collard greens and baked beans. The catfish is fried to order and offered with a dab of tartare sauce. The filets of catfish were golden-yellow with a thin, crackly, light corn-based crust flecked with black pepper. The fish was delicate and moist, not at all overdone or dried out. This was some of the best fried fish I've had in ages. The sides were old-fashioned, meaning the collard greens were flavored with bits of smoked ham hock and the tomatoey baked beans included pieces of pork fat back. Greasy, but so good, the way greens and beans should taste.
The service here was warm and attentive. There's real pride in the food and making sure the customers are happy.
