I'm not sure if this is adequately on-topic - it's culinary as opposed to strictly food-related. But I'm not sure where else to post the question.

I just bumped my bodum coffee press off the shelf and it is for some reason it exploded instead of merely cracking. I need to get a new one, hopefully somewhere with a low markup.

Can someone recommend a good coffee or cookwares place that will sell these at a reasonable price?

Thanks...

Well, I think that Not About Food is mostly visited by New Yorkers, so I doubt I'd get that many PhilPa-based responses.

I looked around at Bodums for a while and saw pretty much no variation in price. I got the 8 cup model for $29.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond or someplace like that.

As someone else mentioned if the plunger part is still fine you can just get a replacement carafe.

bodum has 2 stores/cafes in the US. the closest to philly is in nyc, on 14th st. just east of ninth avenue, in what used to be the meatpacking district (even if it is still called by this name due to the occasional carcass sighting).

you might consider upgrading from the danish-made french press to the vacuum-style coffee maker, bodum's original proprietary product (see link to bodum's site below).
