My wife and I have dinner reservations for the 25th. Any menu recommendations that will give us an idea of an appropriate BYOB wine? Thank you,

My reccomdation would be to avoid the restaurant! The service is rude. After giving us a small snacks upon our arrival, our server dropped our rolls on our oily plates. When we asked for clean plates, our server was annoyed. The food was incredibly overpriced, the dining room was so dark and dreary we felt like we eating in a dark room.

Clearly, these owners think they have the finest restaurant in the world, but they have no reason to feel this way. The menu is boring and uninspired and the food is second rate!

Please take 15 minutes and go to Philadelphia.

I have to agree with this assessment. I've been to Maya Bella, once for dinner and twice for lunch. The dining room is very dreary, when you sit outside, trucks are going up and down Fayette Street (not exactly the perfect atmosphere for outdoor dining). The service was bad at all three visits. The food was just okay and, yes, I do get the impression they think they're something special. Fayette Street Grill (right across the street) is much better. It's byob and fixed price. I can't say much for the atmosphere. It gets noisy when full but at least it's not dreary and the food is good.

Thanks for the support Jan R. I have been saying such negative things on this board lately, but there are many restaurants I love, I promise!

I agree - go to Fayette St Grill. Always good food, BYO and fixed price.

We had an amazing dinner there right after they opened, and I raved about the place here. Not only was our dinner good, but the people at other tables were sharing their food with us, and IT was good.

We went back in the Fall, and we weren't allowed to eat outside if we had wine - some sort of borough regulation or something. Not their fault, but it took something away (the trucks on Fayette Street may take away from the outside seating for some, but we don't mind them)

We ordered the boar special, which turned out to be inedible - both dry and tasteless. We complained, and the server said "oh, we've gotten a lot of complaints about that tonight." Okay, if you get a lot of complaints, and it's not just one cranky person, maybe you should DO something - take it off the check, offer a free dessert or even just a free coffee, but something to acknowledge that the kitchen screwed up. Up until that time, we were probably their biggest word-of-mouth advertisers. But the unwillingness to accept responsibility for putting something that dreadful on the menu frustrated us, and we haven't been back (although we may give it one more try).

I must say I've never had a bad meal at Fayette Street Grill. Loud, yes. But the food never disappoints.

Our waitress dropped a full glass of water on the table & one of us. The food was average and pricey.
The bland linguini w/rock shrimp...I think there was only one baby rock shrimp, needed something to give it some flavor, maybe mussel stock. The mussel appetizer was good but pricey, and who ever heard of serving mussels w/a side of french fries!
