yes, when i went recently, i had "the barbeque experience" which is like a big sampler, with brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken and two sides (i had skillet cornbread and mac and cheese). it was the best bbq i have ever had, and overall, one of the best meals I've had lately. the different smoke and spice flavors are pronounced yet integrated, and each bbq sauce is unique and complimentry of it's meat. all the meat was super tender yet very succulent. the corn bread was amazingly moist and yet crusty and crunchy on the outside, with a little jalpeno to liven it up. It's hard to say which was my favorite meat, but the ribs are pretty darn good. they also have a nice small wine and beer list. i had, and very much enjoyed, a glass of their tempranillo "crianza" (think rioja). all in all, a great addition to our center city dinning options. ps. prices are fairly reasonable. the huge bbq experience was like 27 (i took a lot home) and the glass of wine was like 8, beer was like 5...

So good to hear it! I am one of the ole Marabella girls(basically grew up at the place and put me thru college in its heyday, the late 80's early 90's- anyone else???)-sorry got a little nostalgic. Anyway, gonna try it soon. How's the service, anything abot the decor or any other comments?

i ate at the smoked joint this afternoon. i tried the pulled pork, the brisket, baked beans in root beer with pulled pork, and the hand cut sweet potato fries. cost for the plate = $18. the brisket was excellent. the pulled pork although fantastic in the beans, was plain by itself. the fries were very fresh and came with a ranch sauce. we had 20oz beers of flying fish, and a heffeweisen, for $5 each - both good pours. In my opinion the prices are a bit high - the cheapest bottle of red wine is $48, and macaroni and cheese is $10 (but $12 at the good dog around the corner). the smoked joint is doing some changes to the menu - you can no longer have the corn bread or mac and cheese as sides. i'd say it's definately worth a visit, but i think the prices and menu may change in the future.

Fries were good and seemed fresh. The greens were the equivalent of rotor ruter through me and made me sick within a half an hour.

The choc chip cookie w/white chunks was made with dough that was overworked which made the cookie tough as you would imagine biting into a hockey puck may be. Similarly, I had an issue with the "deep fried" cookie: it was CLEARLY cooked in oil that was used to cook a multitude of other foods and, therefore, it was not clear if you were eating a potato dumpling, rice ball or fried matzo ball. It was definitely CLEAR it was NOT a sweet dessert.

I tried the smoked joint this afternoon and the overall experience was fine. It is a sport bar kind of place with people smoking at the bar. The waitress was too pushy trying to make the most tip she can. We got two combo plates. We got ribs, pulled pork and brisket. With each combo you get two sides. We got the sweet fries, beans, greens and the corn bread for additional $2. The meats were OK, nothing great. My husbands ribs looked fine, but mine was almost burned and dried out. I mentioned it to the waitress and she told me because they smoke it for a long time it looked kind of dark and dry!! The brisket was fine and it didn't come with any sauce. The pulled pork was kind of boring and it came with a little sauce on the top. The winners were the sides. I loved the corn bread and the beans. The sweet fries was good as was the greens. As I tried to eat my dried out ,very dark, burned ribs, I told my husband for $18 you should't get this kind of ribs.I had to talk to a couple of people and after explaining to them they offered to bring me new ones. After a while she showed up with much better ribs. All in all I would go back for the sides, but the meat is not that great. I think the price is a little too high for what you get.
