Hi from this Las Vegas chowhound, all.
I am going to Pittsburgh this Saturday for a conference until Wednesday night. I've done a little surfing on this board (thanks, Aimee) and have reservations at Eleven. Any other places to have dinner or lunch near the convention center? I will not have a car...

Until...

Thursday, when a friend and I go to the Mountain View Inn at Greensburg for two nights. I've checked their website and it looks pretty good. We will be going to FallingWater and a few other places. Any recommendations for breakfast, lunch or dinner? Charming country places? Might meet someone between Pittsburgh and Greensburg one night for dinner...anyplace "halfway"?

Thanks in advance!

There really isn't much between Pittsburgh and Greensburg. Closer to Pittsburgh on Route 30 there is a steakhouse called The Winchester Room, good basic steak place. Closer to Greensburg in Jeanette is The Nest, good lobster. Also in Jeanette is an Italian store called DeLallo's. You should just walk in to smell it. It smells like all great Italian stores do of olives, cheese, garlic.

Leaving Fallingwater and traveling on Route 40 toward Uniontown, you will find The Summit Inn. It is a very old fashioned hotel or Inn that has pretty good food.
Traveling along Route 40 again toward Uniontown in a town called Hopwood, there is a place called Chez Gerard, a french bistro type of place, and the food there is wonderful, highly recommended. I think only open for dinner.
While in the area if you have time you should stop at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. Great food can be found there too.
Enjoy your visit to Pittsbrugh and the surrounding area, and if you find anything good, be sure to let us know.
