I grew up in Boyertown, and there are *very few* places to go. One local fave is Talarico's, an Italian sandwich shop. They're famous for their hot pepper blend, which they bottle and sell. (I've even seen it on the shelves of stores in Philly.) It's on the main stretch of 73, near the high school in town.

Other than that, I worked briefly at the Lakeside Inn, near Limerick. The food there wasn't so bad, if you can stand the clientelle and atmosphere. ;)

Good luck.

Hi there, I live nearby in Limerick , not a lot of great choices. But the Airport hotel on Ridge Pike in Pottstown has great food but rather dismal atmosphere. The French Quarter Bistro on Main in Royersford is also good Cajun food but service can be somewhat slow. Not sure what Kevin meant about the Lakeside, the food is average, I know the owners and they are super nice and I think the clientele is fine. Whatever! Another new place bit of a drive is on Route 29 between Perkiomenville and Green Lane called Ortino's. heard its great, used to be a dicey place but they rehabbed it and its gotten great reviews in the Inquirer. Please report back if you find any gems!

I'll second that. Talarico's has the best cheesesteaks outside of Philly.

OK... I know I'll probably get roasted for this one, but I will personally make a road trip to Boyertown for this place, just for the fun factor. Check out the Restaurant on the Ragin' Manatawny outside of the hamlet of Earlville. You'll need to call for directions, but it is not far from Boyertown. They are only open on weekends until the end of April

But, gourmet it is NOT. This is a deli counter where you order your pre-marinated meats or veggies and cook communally on the grill (inside or out), with your wide choice of sauces, seasonings and marinades. They have a wide range of kebobs, from wild boar to scallops in bacon, several good cuts of steak, marinated chicken, sveral varieties of fish, and portobellos. The sides are basic-- a garden salad and a baked potato... but then like I said, this isn't about an offbeat fooderie, not a gourmet one.

If you go, belly up to the bar and get a hurricane. They're the best I've had... well, actually, the only good ones I've ever had.

I'll vouch for the Tiki Bar, and I've been roasted for it. It's a strange place for sure, but it's got a charm that can't really be described.

I'll try to help -I work near there, and lived near there for a while. Most places are in the Pottstown-limerick area, about 15 - 20 minutes away
1)Ortliebs Microbrewery at the Sunnybrook Ballroom, Main st of pottstown, across from the hospital. Great beer, good food.
2) somebody mentioned the Lakeside in limerick. It was totally redone 2 or 3 years ago, much brighter, different clientelle, good food.
3) Chiccarine's on Swamp pike was great italian, but I haven't been there in years. Don't get the mussels on all-you-can-eat night, but they're good any other time.
4) there was a place called 'Our Place' on Swamp Pike near 663. Kind of a divey-looking place, with good rock&roll bands and surprisingly good food, not typical bar fare. I don't know if it's still there.
5) somebody else mentioned the Airport -the assessment is right on.
6) on the weekends, there is all kinds of stuff at Zerns farmer's market, right outside of boyertown. and some of the strangest people you'll meet.
7) I've heard good things about Covatta's on 724, but never was there myself.
good luck.
