here was an earlier thread asking about live crab, and someone mentioned that Lien Hing (on the northwest corner of 5th & Clement in SF) had some.
I was there this afternoon and they had quite large quantities of them.

I know your post is a bit facetious, but you can buy dead crabs in Chinese markets. It is risky, but cheap. If somehow you can find out just WHEN they died, and get them within a short time after, you can buy crabs at half price. Most people will not risk it, but many Chinese markets seem to get rid of them that way. Rarely will you find cooked crab in a Chinese market. I once suggested to Francisco Wong, former owner of Dupont mkt that as soon as they die, he should cook them. He said his customers wouldn't buy them cooked.
