Sibio's in Dunmore
This is a crowded old school (though not as dated as Piledggi's) Italian restaurant.
The front room (with dining booths) is smoking. The second (all tables) is not. That's where we sat. Not exactly intimate, and a little on the hectic side.
The breads were wonderful---poppy seed rolls, bagel chips, accompanied by a sour cream like butter (even better!).
Appetizer: Hot Cherry Peppers stuffed with prosciutto and provolone. They were very spicy and just average.
I ordered a cup of tortellini soup. The broth was a hair salty, but tasty...very good meat tortellini.
My wife's salad came with a vinegrette that she found a bit too sweet.
Main courses...veal scallopini, smothering in a wine sauce with mushrooms. Nice and tender, good flavor. 7.5 out of 10.
Grilled salmon with a cream sauce, nicely cooked. Very good.
Side pasta was topped with a good but tarty red sauce.
Desserts---apple crumb pie (not as crisp as I would wish) and rice pudding which the wife says was on a par with her great aunt's!
With four glasses of wine (a birthday meal---usually we don't), our bill came to $72.
On the whole, a nice night out.
