I worked in Morrocco and Tunisia for a two years and I can send you a good recipe for tagine if you would like. The key is preserved lemons which are easy to make as well. As far as North African products, there used to be a good place on San Pablo Ave right off of University but it burned down a while back and it does not look like it will open. I found harissa at Rattos in Oakland but I don't know of a place in San Francisco.
