Pakwan in the Mission

Hi! Has anyone been to Pakwan in the Mission? I am going there this weekend and was wondering if there were any recommendations. I am not familiar with Pakistani food at all! I don't like lamb and most currys are a little too heavy or spicy for me. Any thoughts?

Yes, I have been and am a Pakwan fan. Below is a link to my previous posting comparing Zante's, Pakwan and several other Indian places.

Pakwan is great, but you might be dissapointed as almost all the food is both heavy and spicy.

I agree with Rochelle that the Pakwan-style Bengan Bhartha is great, as is the Naan. I also like the Saag Dal (Spinach & Lentils) and Aloo Palak (Spinach & Potatoes). I can't vouch for the meat dishes, as I'm a vegetarian, but the Tandoori chicken looks and smells real good and the loud yummy sounds coming from my dining partners seemed to attest to it being excellent.

Look for the specials, too. All I've had have ranged from good to excellent.

I am a huge Pakwan fan. The Chana Masala (chickpeas) is excellent. I also love the Saag Dal. I prefer the regular menu items over the specials - I haven't had much luck with them. The tandoori chicken is very good and very spicy, too.

Sounds like it is not your kind of place. Pakistani food is like Indian food. Curry/spicy etc. are the reason for going. Why don't you pick another place?
