Why are taqueria's named after lighthouses?

Mark Miller Nov 24, 2001 04:46 AM

So, Im sitting here in a friend's apt in San Franciso. Having just finished one of the finest burrtios this ny'er has ever tasted we got to discussing various taquerias in the Sf area. Having just eaten at El Faralito and realizing there is both an El Faro and El Farito we started to wonder; What gives? How come these taquerias are called ... lighthouse?

Because: El Farolito is a beacon, shining above the surrounding landscape, guiding you to the best tacos al pastor to be found in the Newnited Snakes.

I was wondering the same thing just yesterday, but I have no idea what the answer is!
