Turkey Ravioli at Lucca

Snoop Kitty Cat Nov 18, 2001 11:11 AM

The Lucca Ravioli Co. at Valencia and 22d makes a rich, tasty ravioli with smoked turkey filling. This is a deli, not a restaurant, so you have to cook it at home. They offer very good sauces as well, but I made my own (gruyere/cream). It's only available for a few weeks a year.

Lucca Ravioli on Valencia also has something that's almost unheard of in the Mission -- a free parking lot!! It's just north of the shop on Valencia between 22nd and 23rd Sts.

Acutally, I believe the parking lot is SOUTH of the store. In any case, it makes going to Lucca's a whole lot easier than braving North Beach for the Italian delis there. Lucca's also has an interesting selection of Italian wines, some of which I have not seen elsewhere.

You're right -- it's south of the store. It's a great convenience and the ravioli are wonderful. At this time of year they make several special ravioli. I haven't been there yet to see this year's selection. I'll report back after I've visited the shop.

I went to Lucca today. Per the man behind the counter, turkey ravioli is not available now but will be a week before Christmas. I just had to settle for meat ravioli instead. :-)
