Palio d' Asti
We are considering dining at Palio d' Asti in a couple of weeks and I remember hearing a lot about them when they were new, but not much recently. Can anyone share a recent experience? Good? Bad? Indifferent?
Thanks.

I think Palio is a good "Nuovo-Italian" restaurant. It's not outstanding but it was a frequent place to go for a "power lunch" if Rubicon was booked up. I have heard unconfirmed reports that Palio closes sporadically for dinner if bookings are slow for the evening - emphasis on 'unconfirmed' but that just means it hasn't happened to me.
Personally, I'm tired of of sous chefs spinning the Roulette Wheel of Ingredients to come up with something new & exciting menu item. Given the money you'll lay out at Palio d'Asti, I'd prefer to go to any number of authentic Italian dining establishments up the street.

I happened to have had lunch there yesterday.
The food is extremely salty. I have eaten there many times over the years. Unfortunately, I can safely say I would not go back there again.
