I'm a sous chef at a pretty good restaurant in NY and we are closed for a week, so I'm trying to get out of the city for some good eats. What is the story with Studiokitchen? Has he opened yet? How does one make a reservation at the studio? It takes a lot of time to scroll through all the posts, so if someone wouldn't mind giving me a little summary. (I don't get vacation time all that often!)

Hi,
The best way to contact them is through email. Their address is Studiokitchen424@aol.com. Shola is very prompt in replying to emails. The setup is that he hosts parties of 8 at his studio loft which is really a kitchen and nice dining area. The cost is $50 per person for a lovely four course meal or he will customize with extra courses/items at an additional cost. Enjoy

I'm very eager to visit StudioKitchen myself, but could not find 7 other friends willing to pay $50/meal, they tend not to be food people.

Is there interest in forming an ad hoc group for a pilgramage? (I'm rather new to this group, so folks don't know me, hope that isn't a problem. I promise I'm of good character and descend from a mostly respectable family. ;-))

I would offer to manage the aggregation of supplicants and collect names, except that I'm headed off for vacation from July 3 - July 9, which would make it hard to manage this in the upcoming week or so.

If anyone else wants to take up the gauntlet, please include me. I'm free every night this summer, after my vacation. If no one takes up the gauntlet while I'm away, I'll try organizing a group when I get back.

I too find myself in the the same predicament as Bill -- can't scare up enough friends for an outing. Their responses range from "$50?" to "someone's studio?" to "private chef!?!?!?" to "is this legit?". Oh brother. Maybe I need to find new friends ;) I dream of the day I can go out with 7 responsible friends and not worry when the bill comes around (there's never enough cash in the pile).

So to all the 'Hound newbies (or is that puppies?) out there...let us rejoice with good food, wine, and fellow adventuresome types.

Count me in Bill, and I promise to use good table manners. Any night this summer works for me with short notice. Let's see, 2 people...we're 25% there already!

Was waiting for someone to initiate this string. I wasn't willing to risk being the first to bear my soul in public and then end up being stuck out there all alone saying that I can't come up with 7 friends willing to fork over $50 plus. Thanks for paving the way for the rest of us.

I'm no good with guantlets though so perhaps someone else will take the bull by the tail and get things organized. My schedule is pretty flexible, especially weekdays, though mid August won't work. But I'm hoping this happens before that.

If you want, and we can't come up with 8 here, I will post this on another food formum where I am a moderator.

Hi to all. The studio kitchen dinner sounds interesting, and I might be able to scare up some more people. The Saturday Morning Breakfast Club meetings are held at the Reading Terminal Market on, of all days, Saturday mornings! It's usually moderated by Michael Holahan, who owns the PA General Store in the market. Anyways, the next meeting is to be July 27th at 9:30 AM. I can tell them about the studio kitchen dinners and see if anyone might be interested. There's at least 3 people who go who might be interested. If they're not there, I can always email them. Of course, if anyone reading this is interested in the breakfast club, you're certainly welcome to come-- no dues, no membership requirements other than an interest in food. We don't know yet where in the market the meeting will be held, so if you go just ask at the PA General Store. For a bit more info, you can check the general store's site.

I'm hoping there are not a bunch of market research types concealed behind one way mirrors - debating whether there iss pentration if I accidently brush my nose and collating my mean number of chews by dish served.
