Chocolate Mousse Cakes in SF

Hi everyone. I'm hoping you can help me in my search for a good (and reasonably priced) chocolate mousse cake. My husband's birthday is coming up and chocolate mousse is his fave dessert.

I did a search on the board and saw some postings about that French place on Union, La Nouvelle (sp?), but they charge something like $40 for a cake that feeds 8 to 10. A little outrageous for cake, I think.

Thanks in advance!

I can personally attest to the mousse cake from La Nouvelle Patisserie. For my boyfriend's parents' anniversary I ordered the 3 mousse cake and it made the perfect dessert after dinner at Bizou. Very light yet full of flavor, a delicious crust and aesthetically appealing as well. Everyone loved it, and I felt like a genius for picking it out.

If I recall correctly, the cake was under $30.00, a terrific deal.

I don't think $40.00 for a chocolate mousse cake that feeds 10 people is outrageous at all. That works out to $4.00 per person, a relative bargain compared to the cost of dessert these days. Maybe, you can sample it before buying. If it's good and since it's his birthday, I say go for it.
