Goin' winetasting tomorrow in the Healdsburg area. Any recommendations on inexpensive places to eat in the area? Cuisine isn't important, tho I'd prefer Cal or American. Thanks.

If you like barbecue, try Rob's Rib Shack. I just sort of came across it last week while going to a wedding up there, so I can't quite recall where it is. It was across the road from a driving range, if that helps. They probably have a web page. Good pulled pork sandwich.

Rob's makes good bbq (and you can drive golf balls), but it is relatively far from Healdsburg, southwest of the town of Sonoma. Much closer to Healdsburg is the Geyserville Smokehouse, which also has good bbq.

    2. Bistro Ralph on the plaza in Healdsburg can't be beat! The chicken paillard served at lunch (11:30 until 2:30) with pommes frites is WONDERFUL!!! Also good is the Healdsburg Chacuterie which is about 1/2 block away on Healdsburg Ave.

In answer to your quest sorry didn't find your web site until this a.m. I'm a 14 yr. resident of H. I don't recommend Bistro Ralph to my guests. It's too expensive I believe and is charging SF prices, although the Lamb Burger is good. Instead we recommend Charcuterie. It's very consistent and no one is ever disappointed. Rave reviews about Ravenous' new place on Center St. The Dry Creek Deli makes very generous sandwiches for picnic lunches. Eat well!
