Brazilian Bossa Nova sandwich?

  • c

I got this Bossa Nova sanwich at a brazilian sandwich stand in the parkinglot near ace hardware on university (in Berkeley). I'm wonder if any one knows what a Bossa Nova is. thanks.

Since I pass this brightly decorated cart every weekend, I figured what the hell. The #1 Bossa Nova Sandwich is described as Brazilian chicken salad with hearts of palm. What I got was a huge scoop of slightly orange-tinged chicken salad on thick slices of fresh, chewy whole-grain bread, with endive, tasty ripe tomato slices, and all the onion I wanted. The salad was a little sweeter than I'm used to (not sweet sweet, though), and I couldn't detect the palm hearts, but there was a great crunchy texture of what could have been water chestnuts and certainly included whole-kernel corn. A sandwich to savor, and a two-hander for sure--don't try to eat one of these while driving. With a rich mango freeze, this made my main meal for the day.

As noted, this cart is located in a corner parking lot on University Ave in Berkeley, just below Oxford at the west end of the UC campus, on the north side of the street.

See link below re bossa nova.
