Kapok Chinese Seafood Alameda (thanks Gordon!)

Was in the mood for takeout last night and decided to give Kapok Seafood (1511 Webster) a try, since Gordon Wing had mentioned it a couple of times.
I don't think I would have tried it without a recommendation, since the restaurant itself is rather tattered and dingy, but (except for the potstickers, which were only so-so) everything I ordered was excellent. I'm happily scarfing down the leftover eggplant as I type.
I still think I prefer East Ocean for sit-down, but Kapok just went to the head of the take-out list.
As a bonus, while I was waiting for my order I walked down Webster and found a middle eastern market and picked up a menu from and Indian place (Sahib, I think) my roommate (who is not a chowhound but has a decent palate) has been recommending.
Glad to hear that Kapok is still pretty good. We usually go there for the family menus that are a very good deal and which they have translated into English-ask for a copy at the register/greeter's desk. They also have a daily list of specials that are priced at $3.95 or some ridiculous price. I'll have to try East Ocean again - have had dim sum there (and enjoyed it )but it was awhile ago.
