Been there a number of times. IMHO, the best seafood restaurant in DC. I usually order from the daily specials. Never had anything there I didn't like.

Very good. Go. Go with the mind of perusing the menu, as well. Get some small plates, ask about dishes and wine - staff has always been knowledgable and excited. Hardly ever ordered non special entrees.

Get the fried clams--I don't even really like clams and they are fabulous--better than Kinkeads.

I can attest to Shelly's comment about the clams...I have Black Salt's clams on Wednesday night and Kinkead's on Thursday - Black Salt definitely wins. Also agree that ordering a bunch of the little dishes is awesome - Addies mussels or unreal. I had a tuna steak on Wednesday that was cooked to perfection. Definitely my tops for seafood in DC right now - with a creative menu.

Agreed that the seafood there (and in the market for retail) is as good as it gets around here. In the meals I had way back when, however, I found that fried items and seafood served very simply (e.g., grilled or raw) were the best bets -- the kitchen was very heavy-handed on sauces and salt, masking the taste of the fresh fish. It's been awhile, though, so I can't be sure they haven't addressed that problem.
