You must have the spinach appetizer. It's fried spinach and yogurt and all sorts of wonderful flavors and textures. They mentioned it in the food section yesterday if you want to read more about it. It's really good though. I also tried a duck dish that was excellent. From my one experience there I think anything on the menu is probably pretty good, if not wonderful.

a pretty package with overpriced mediocre food masquerading as high style Indian. there are lots of better and tastier Indian places in dc. maybe they don't have the fancy bar drinks or million dollar decorator touches, but they don't need to use gimmicks like deep fried baby spinach leaves to bring hipsters in like Rasika does.

Ten Penh does the deep fried baby spinach leaves thing too - in the smoked lobster dish. The other place in that chain - DC Coast - also has it on their menu. Different drizzles, but the same idea. yawn.

Rasika is fancy. So are Indebleu, Heritage and the new Indique hts. All serving the same mediocre food in different garb. What is even more unpleasant is if you keep all their menus together --there will be a stark similarity- chips of the same block. The new Indique copies the Indebleu/Rasika trend of offering awfully bad tasting Non-Indian dishes like tough rabbit and chewy duck.
Have lived in India for a total of 18 months and travelled all over the country- eaten at homes, in villages and the top restaurants.

Nothing disappointed, but two dishes really stood out: the palak chaat (crispy spinach) is great, very unusual, and the black cod was phenomenal. Light and slightly sweet with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Not typical "Indian" fare as I think of it, but fantastic.

The sommelier is also excellent, very helpful in working with our group's tastes and orders. If you're a cocktail person, the ginger martini is good and different.
