Had the chance to try the O Street Mansion's (2020 O St. near NH Ave) lavish lunch buffet when Pulitzer Prize-winning author Studs Terkel came by yesterday for Q&A and book-signing.

The Mansion on O Street is a 19th century brownstone on a quiet street that's been turned into a small boutique hotel/B&B, filled with antiques and art - all for sale.

It's also a private club with a vintage (licensed) bar in the back, but is also open to the public at select times for lectures, book-signings and even small concerts, as well as a lunch buffet Mondays from 12-2.

The buffet has salads, cold dishes, hot dishes, soup, breads, and a big dessert spread. Coffee & tea are included. Everything is presented beautifully on antique dishes and lace tablecloths.

Reservations are required.

This place also used to hold an open house each Christmas Eve (does it still, I wonder?), but I had no idea it had other events. Thanks for the tip.
