Can anyone recommend a place to purchase fresh goats milk cheese?I had some on a bruschetta at Enrico's a while back and would like to try it next time Im in San Francisco. On the subject of Enricos's I was surpised to find that the food at this busy establishment was quite good..Wonderful bread, popcorn shrimp, antipasti and bruschetta with smoked salmon...Succulant roast chicken and a flavourful halibut with cous cous and tagine sauce..I would visit again but not at dinner as the noise is a bit overpowering.

  1. Rainbow Grocery on Folsom, Whole Foods on California and Franklin. There's a place on Polk called ... Leopold 2000 (??). Also check out the farmers market on Saturday.

It's Leonard's, and I think it's 2001 (but don't quote me on that). It's on the corner of Pacific or thereabouts (2001 is the address). Great place for good prices on all sorts of imported stuff; I used to go there all the time when I lived in the neighborhood.

      1. Guess where I'm going to recommend you go for goat's milk cheese?

        Um hm... Rainbow.

I just ate an excellent organic raw aged Italian goat cheese I got there... slightly softer than a Parmigiano.

They also have fresh goat cheeses and a great selection of sheep cheeses.

Oh, and a bunch of new epoisses at about $10 a pound (bargain prices).

        You won't be disappointed...

        1. You mentioned the noise being overpowering at Enrico's. We go there to listen to the good jazz, especially the Hot Club of SF, not to eat! Did you mean crowd noise or were you referring to the music??
