good crab legs on or off the wharf?

I'm looking for a real place to get real fresh crab legs that is not a tourist trap. Please help!

  1. The only fresh crab I'm familiar with in the SFBA is Dungeness, and the legs are really too small to be served separately. It's always, to the best of my knowledge, served as a whole or half critter. True, the two claws are large enough, I suppose, to serve, but who then would buy crabs missing those delectable parts??
