Bangkok 54 Recs?

I'm going to Bangkok 54 for the first time and am looking for recs. What's good and what should I avoid?

    The crispy pork belly with chili basil was one of my best dishes of 2005. Others have found it not to their liking, but it was crispy and chewy and the heat from the sauce balanced out the unctiousness of the pork belly.

      It will help if you could give us some sense of your food preferences, but absent that, I heartily recommend the crispy duck salad. It's very spicy but super delicious.

        We're not scared of spicy - in fact my husband LOVES really spicy food. He won't, however, go for anything tofu. I, on the other hand, am game for just about anything.

          Excellent - we're a good match. I also love spicy and don't like tofu. Trust me on the duck salad. Yum!

        I really really like the crispy squid w/basil. the last few times the breading has been a little heavier than normal, but it's still lighter than any breaded squid dish you'd get elsewhere, and you get fat tasty pieces of squid, shaped like squat fat penne but solid meat. man o man

          The crispy squid and the duck salad are two of my favorites. if you're really in the mood for spiciness, go for the green chili

            Some people mentioned not liking tofu, but BK54 has a dish that is a must-order in my book. Their "oven roasted tofu" comes out in crispy strips of a deep caramel color and the consistency of a very tender steak (that's what we thought it was at first). It's very spicy and rich, the sort of dish that makes me go "wow" and start chuckling and singing its praises every time I have it. And it's like, $ 7.95. I'd be interested to hear if others see the same thing I do in this dish.
