I was in Riverdale, and I already ate lunch at Taqueria Tres Reyes, but because I don't get to that part of town very often, I stopped by a local market for a couple of supplies.

Right next door was Taqueria La Placita, one I had never heard of, so I stopped in. I was too full to get anything to eat, but the smell was so good that I got a taco al pastor anyway.

Wow. It completely blew away the drab food at Tres Reyes, no kidding. They had just finished shaving a layer of crispy pork off the rotisserie, and they prepared a taco that was deeply satisfying. On the side they served about half a braised onion along with a substantial jardiniere. The taco was spicy, juicy, and the tortilla, although from a package, was prepped on the grill to make it all soft and puffy. They could have fooled me into thinking it was completely fresh it was that good.

If you go to this area of Little Mexico, then this is 2 bucks VERY well spent. (They also had a couple of hard to find fillings, like crispy pork skin.)

excellent Steve. judging by the address it's across the street and a little north of La Sirenita, less than a block....one could do a comparison meal and only park once.
