Large group needs good food

  • g

I need to know a good place for large group of people (12-14 people) to eat good, reasonably priced food ($8 appetizers and $12-18 entrees)? It needs to be available for Friday, October 5th.

You might want to check out the Basque Cultural Center. Linked below is a recent thread on the place, and there's a link buried in there to the restaurant's website with menu.

We'd like to try to stay in San Francisco. Let me clarify our group. I am not actually a grandpoppa. Our group is made up primarily of 25-31 yr olds, including myself (you can guess who's the oldest). We're looking for some place that's hip but not pretentious. Not the Hotel W or Asia de Cuba. Perhaps something similar with not so much hype. Thanks for your help.

When I was looking for something similar this spring, I called E&O Trading Company (off Union Square), and they didn't freak at all when I asked for a reservation for 12 on a Friday on short notice (which we ended up cancelling).

Some one said here a while back that the food (Pan-Asian) has gone down hill, but the beer is good (g).

        Any recent updates?

Sounds like a good suggestion. The live jazz (Fri-Sat), atmosphere, and beer alone should make it appealing to the youngish group. And parking should be easy with the Sutter-Stockton garage a block away.

I can't provide a recent update since the last time I went was about 2 years ago. The food was quite good at the time. I will mention, though, that the food is a bit pricey. They do have lots of small plate dishes which are meant to be shared. For a group of 12-14, you'll need to order numerous plates to fill everyone up. I would say $20 minimum per head, food only.
