Sawa Sushi Chowhound Gathering--UPDATE!

Hey all!

We're on for this Friday (Sept 28, 7:00ish), and some space is still available!

So far, here are the people who've confirmed:

Hao
Nancy Acton
Nancy's Husband
Burke
Wells

Two more are possible (friends of ours, chowhounds at heart), but haven't confirmed yet.

I spoke with Steve Sawa, and he's looking forward to having all of us over on Friday. Should be a fun time!

    when you guys go as a group do you get to sit at the sushi counter or are you kind of limited to tables. also, how big is the counter? and is steve sawa, the only chef that serves you or does he have other chefs under his command that make the sushi?

      Steve Sawa is the only chef. If we're six folks, we'll probably grab the counter (it's a pretty big counter--turns a corner and everything).

      If we're more than six, however, I imagine he'll put us at a table. It's the same sushi no matter what--this is NOT someone who gives you less just because you're at a table!

        Actually, he does give you less if you're at a table. In my experience, it's not worth going if you have to sit at a table. The cuts are smaller, the variety is worse, and the interaction with Steve is almost nonexistent. But sitting at the bar is a sublime experience.

          Heh, really? I've only sat at a table once--and perhaps he treated me extra special, since he knows I love the bar (which happened to be full that day).

          Still, it looks like we're a small enough group to get the bar! I'm very excited about it.
