Steamed Crabs (by the bushel) - Baltimore Area

I have family coming into town and was planning to get a bushel of crabs to eat at home. I have received recommendation for Waverly Crabs, Chris' Seafood (Canton) and Gibby's Seafood Market (Timonium). Does anyone have experience with these places? Any recommendation for other places? Thanks.

not sure if this it is too late but my years in Catonsville, I always ordered my crabs from Sea King (mostly the Catonsville Branch but once or twice the EC branch

Chris' is great but if you aren't a regular they are a little weird about getting whole bushels for you, call 'em anyway.
Gaffneys in Highlandtown is very good as is Hales on Taylor Avenue near Hillendale.

My recent experiences at Hale's have not been great.

Details please? Problems with price/quality? We've used Hales for years with great success whenever I'm back home. Due to prices and scheduling I haven't been up to put together a feast yet this year, but Hales would be where I'd get them. If there's beena serious decline, however, I'd have to consider going elsewhere. Thanks.

I've been once this year. The crabs were light and not particularly tasty.

I am in Ellicott City, but we will be doing the touristy thing downtown and we're thinking of just picking them up on our way out of the city (before heading home).

Ditto...but the carryout is called SeaKing. I have ordered them from there 3x this summer and not been at all disappointed!

If you are in Ellicott City have you considered getting your bushel from Frank's inn Jessup? Any 'hounds ever get crabs from Frank's and if so how were they?

i've gotten crabs there; while i liked frank's, i think chris's is better; the timing is kind of hard at frank's and i think the crabs were steamed well before i got there.
