Sawa Sushi gathering, this Friday!
- Burke and Wells Aug 28, 2001 03:06 PM
Hi Chowhounds! A number of folks have asked to go on a Sawa Sushi visit, and (to accommodate one who's only in town this week), I'm putting together a short-notice gathering.
Those who have already e-mailed me I've notified by return email. If you'd like to join us for sushi at Sawa Sushi in Sunnyvale, CA, please send me an e-mail ASAP.
Where: Sawa Sushi, Sunnyvale, CA
When: Friday, August 31, 7:00pm until ???
Bring: Your willingness to spend $150 or more AND your food courage to eat whatever the chef puts before you.
If that sounds fun, e-maile me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll provide further details.
Space is limited to SIX people (that is, Burke, myself, and the first SIX people who respond and confirm, for a total of eight).
There will be other runs to Sawa, so don't worry if this is too short notice.
re: Melanie Wong
We had to cancel for lack of attendance. That'll teach us to try to put together an impromptu gathering on the Friday night of a holiday 3-day weekend with only four days notice! We'll try again another week.
We did go to Sawa's again on our own, though, the Sunday before. We're mixing our pleasures--we brought him some fine cheeses to taste. He and his wife loved them! Burke and I weren't sure they even liked cheese--we gave them a Livarot and some wonderful raw-milk Camembert. He responded by uncorking for us some 35-year old Macallan scotch.
Despite all the discussion we've had, it's pretty obvious Sawa is family. We'll never leave him so long as we're in the area.
