Hi everyone!
I'm heading down to Norfolk, VA tomorrow (Sunday) for a conference and would like to know if anyone has recommendations for good eats that's within walking distance of the Norfolk Marriott Waterside.
Looking for semi-casual to casual dining places withing a reasonable budget, but am not picky about types of cuisines.
 Thanks soo much in advance!

Try Sterlings. It is new from what I have heard. We visited in early December. It is connected to the Tazewell Hotel on Granby Street. I had the lobster bisque. It was too rich for a bowl. I dont really recommend that, but it wasnt bad. Salad was good. They all looked great but I had the house with house dressing (bacon bbq ranch- really, surprisingly delish!) We also had the Guiness Beef tips - awesome. My boyfriend got the burger. Good also. This place is casual with a nice grand old bar feel. No smoking at lunch, staff is very nice. Dont park on lot out back - they ticket like mad down there. But there is street parking.

There are tons of restaurants down there. That is really all it is as far as we could tell. Strange type of town. In bad shape but obviusly undergoing a renaissance. Not sure how they support all of these great places to eat.

We also ate at Bodega - a really cool tapas restaurant about 4 blocks up Granby. Had about 8 small plates and they were al good. Kind of pricey - but a good place for a snack & a drink. Cool copper bar, exposed brick & Frank playing.

219 is supposed to be really hip - but they were obviously too hip for us. Because we were seated & sat about 10 minutes as 4 different staffer went by... Oh well, we walked out & walked into Sterlings & had a super & probably cheaper meal.

Jack Quinn's, an Irish Pub is also right there. We didnt get a chance to eat there but it was highly reccommended & the it was nice.

Cafe Russo is not near - way up town - excellent Italian.

Clubsoda is supposed to be some hip place around the corner, but whenever we went by it appearded closed. Ou hotel (accross the street) had no idea....

Yeah Waterside is a bit of tourist trap kind of place. The area with the best resteraunts is in ghent. I don't know where that is in relation to waterside since I live about 30 minutes away and we always drive in to norfolk.

Some recomendations:

My family really likes the No Frills Gril, it's got nice servers, very casual atmosphere and the food is great.

Wild Monkey is also good.
