Seeking suggestions for dining options in Annandale area for family coming into town. 8 diners -- range in age from mid-70s (my parents, "meat and potato" types) to age 1 (my son). No "ethnic" :-( (so China Star in Fairfax is out). My parents also love Italian food. All I can come up with is Silverado. Anyone have other ideas?

Don't know much about it as I have only been there once and it was more for beers than food, but Ribsters could be your place. Ribs, steak, and chicken. It was pretty crowded and generally seems to be so so it may not be all bad.

In the Safeway Shopping Center on LRT is Domani, a passable "red sauce" Italian restaurant.
You might also try the restaurant near the Whole Foods at the Pinecrest SC, sorry I can't remember the name of the place. Fox or something, across from the Starbucks.
Then in the Barcroft SC on Columbia Pike/Lincolnia Rd is DaVinci a Greek/Italian/Med sort of melange, which is the best of the lot, IMHO

The restaurant near Whole Foods is Foxfire Grill (tel.(703) 914-9280). I've been there once; the food was great (I had steak, and the best mashed potato, IMHO anyway ;) ever), and nice decoration/atmosphere (this was when they just opened though, not sure how it is now). It's a bit on the pricy side though.

Gotta second the Foxfire Grill. I've been there twice, yes it is pricey, but it is very good--certainly better than Ribsters.
