French Laundry Chef's Choice...

I was lucky enough to score a reservation for October at the FL. I am curious if anyone that reads this board has asked the chef to order for them and just accept whatever comes out of the kitchen. Will they let me do this at the FL? If you have tried, let me know how successful it was...
Thanks,
Hungry

In a restaurant with three or so daily changing prix fixe menus that seems already taken care of!

Plus, the kitchen will send out a few extra whimsies.

Absolutely go for the Chef's tasting menu. Unless, you're a vegetarian I guess. We think it's worth every word of the hype. And they do send out some extras on either end of the meal (& when we told them it was our anniversary they emblazoned a message on one of our desserts--it was very sweet). It's a pretty personalized experience anyway, I think--the first time we were there Chef knew what we had eaten and how long we had been there.

There's the vegetarian fixed price meal, and this would certainly be the season for it.

Has anyone ever tried that vegetarian tasting menu? It looks terrific.

I'm new to the board and enjoying it.Its nice to see generosity.

I've had the vegetarian menu there a couple of times. Both times we've eaten with people who ordered the chefs menu, and the number of courses was matched. The food was amazing, still well crafted, and I had several things I haven't had before or since. But I think that's probably true of anything that's served there.
