I want a delicious black forest cake for my birthday next week. A real one: kirsch, sour cherries, good dark chocolate. Any suggestions on where to get one or am I better off baking it myself?

  1. First place that comes to mind is the Heidelberg Bakery. The Black Forest cake is listed on their "specialty cakes" page (see link below).

We bought a black forest cake from Heidelburg for New Year's and I don't recommend it at all.

    2. I haven't tried it, but Classic German Bakery has it on their price list. 8" Schwarzwaelder Kirsh Torte is $42 and a 10" cake is $48. They're in the shopping center at 806 Muddy Branch Road, Gaithersburg, 240-631-9599 (not far from Rio/Washingtonian Center off I-270 and 370 if you're not that familiar with Gburg).

      Happy Birthday!
