The current issue of the East Bay Express has its review of "lacquered ducks" at several Chinese restaurants in Oakland.
If the authors' had read Chowhound.com (thread linked below), they wouldn't have had to wait until the last stop of the day to figure out that the secret is the duck jus. They acknowledged their own cultural bias in failing to understand the delicate balance of Cantonese roasts and "barbecue".
