Does anyone have any suggestions for a good place to have lunch in Santa Cruz? Any cuisine is fine. Thanks in advance.

Near UCSC, I think just off of Bay is Falafel of Santa Cruz. I don't know why but these are one of the best falafel sandwiches I've ever had.

Felafel of Santa Cruz is on Mission just off Bay. Owner's a sweet guy. I really like lunch at Ristoranti Avanti just up Mission; very good soups, salads, sandwiches, pasras.

Just off the top of my head, I'd highly recommend Cafe Brazil, one of my all time favorite places regardless of which meal it is. My preferred dish, especially after any eventful evening that didn't end until 3:00am , was the creamed corn & chicken omelet. (I know it sounds sort of weird, but really it's wonderful) and maybe you'll be brave enough to order an avocado shake. It's right across the street from the Taco Bell, BK and Falafel Hut (almost to be avoided as much as the two fast food chains) on Mission heading toward the university.
Also, there's a little Italian Deli at the upper end of Pacific Street downtown called Zoccoli's. Great if you are craving fresh, filling, Italian style sandwiches. Their lasagna is good, but I'd stick to the hot sandwiches if you only have one visit planned. Plus, they've got a great selection of specialty Italian candy, chocolate, cheeze, beverages, etc.
