Today's Food Section had an item in the Foraging column on Sunnyside Farm's Burger Barn at their rest stop in Sperryville. They have an 8-oz kobe burger with 2 sides for $9.95.

Has anybody tried their burger? I have not, but the steaks we had from there a few weeks ago were the best we have ever had.

At the risk of sounding pretentious, this sounds like a bargain. Too bad it is a couple of hours drive...

Well, the article states Kobe, but I suspect it really is the local waygu beef. I'm not sure whether they pipe in the classical music and massage the cattle as the Japanese do in Kobe. Whatever it is, their steaks are fantastic

Your point is well taken. We should be more careful about how we use these terms. I wonder if Kobe should establish a DOC??

So about this burger barn.... is there a place to eat there? Did you eat the steaks there? Sounds great.

We bought the steaks in the market, which is part of the complex. We brought them home and cooked them that evening on the grill. Fantastic with a salad of greens that we also bought in the market and the strawberries from their stand for dessert (this was end of May).

It sounds from the article like the burger barn is an eat-in place, since they discussed the sides. We didn't see it, though.

There also is an ice cream parlor that we didn't even peek into for fear of being too tempted, having eaten ourselves silly over the weekend.
