- Ruth Lafler
Anyone heard from Rachel? She hasn't posted here in a couple of weeks.
I'm sending her good thoughts.
Here's the e-mail from father-to-be Tim. And let's start a baby pool!
Thanks for your email. We are on real tender hooks at the moment. Rachel's
due date came and went yesterday. She is very close but it could be a
All the suspense is driving us crazy.
I will include you on the mailing list when we have an update.
For the baby pool, please send in your guesses for:
Delivery Date - Month/day
Time - Hour & minutes
Gender - Female or Male
Weight - Pounds & ozs.
Length - Inches
And to keep it about food, the tie breaker will be,
What was Rachel eating when labor started!
In an attempt to get the ball rolling, I just climbed a big hill then went to have spicy Korean for lunch. Ate all my kimchee like a good girl, and mixed all the available hot sauce into my bi bim bap. But for some reason it still didn't taste spicy. Either this was a mild-mannered Korean restaurant or my taste buds are off-line. The baby kicked a bunch, but that probably meant "mmm... give me more" rather than the desired "get me out of here!" Sigh, no baby today by the looks of it :(
re: rachel hope
Rachel! Hang in there darling, all good things are worth the wait. And, please tell us which Korean restaurant...
And, to Rochelle, you may be rusty at these things. But I have to confess that I'm not a very good citizen of the sisterhood myself. I had to do a web search to figure out what to use as parameters for the baby pool. Would you believe that someone has designed web tools for this? Sorry, I didn't automate ours. (g)
re: rachel hope
Rachel and fellow chowhounds:
When my wife was expecting a few years ago, many of our friends regaled us with the tale of a certain East Bay pizzeria where, legend has it, all Mommies who have reached their limit (patience wise) can go, eat some pie and Voila, labor begins!! Anyone else familiar with this yarn and can recall the name of the place?? Good luck Rachel.
re: Melanie Wong
First of all let me thank all of you for your sweet thoughts and kind words.
Second, I don't have any "inside" knowledge. We don't know the gender yet.
Since I have four nephews and no nieces my thoughts are that it is a boy. On the other hand I think that the baby is taking its sweet time getting ready to come out into the world so maybe its a girl!
Ok, I have to make a decision. I think it will be a boy.
He will come on 23rd July at 11:00 AM.
He will way 7lbs 8 oz and be 20" long
Rachel's labor meal will be a bagel
Lets see if I even close on any of them :-)
I will let you all know as soon as I can.
re: Tim (Dad-to-be)Cleves
Can I have the envelope please...
Rachel and I had a wonderful baby boy, Elias Patrick Cleves, at 7:08 PM on Sunday July 22nd. He weighed 7lbs 12 oz and was 21.5" long. Both he and Rachel are doing wonderfully. We are all home now. Rachel's labor was short and sharp but we she did it all without pain medication or intervention.
And to keep it all "chow" related, her last meal before birth was toasted Acme sour batard with raspberry jam. Unfortunately it didn't stay down for long.
We suspect that it was bouncing in our neighbors 7 year old daughters birthday party bright yellow inflatable air castle bouncy thing on Saturday afternoon that triggered the labor!
Rachel will be back to the boards soon with tales of baby chow.
Thank you for all your best wishes.
Tim, Rachel and Elias.
re: Tim "The New Dad!!" Cleves
Tim, it's ok that you posted the announcements here so your SF area chowpals could see. But can everyone please post sundry congrats not here but to the "Not About Food" board?
There are hungry people surfing through here looking for food info, and it's in everyone's interest to keep this board as chowcentric as possible.
