Wash Post Chat Brian McBride Melrose
In conjunction with the RAMMY Awards (Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington industry awards) the Washington Post is hosting a series of online chats with the chefs who were nominated for chef of the year. Today's chef is Brian McBride of Melrose Restaurant

I wonder what's harder for McBride, making his favorite dish taste good, or coming up with the catchy name.
Food these days has not only become complicated based on taste and value, but also with appearance. You can definitely tell the difference between a trained gourmet chef vs. an amateur. Just watching the show Iron Chef, you can see how much art comes into play when plating the food. Speaking of which, I can't see how the Japanese Chefs lost to the American Chefs last week (Morimoto & Sakai vs. Flay, Puck, other).
The food network really spans the spectrum. You go from the homey but cute Rachel Ray making a meat and taters dinner all the way to Iron Chef.
