Looking forward to seeing you, Rachel!

Did you find out whether the restaurant allows byob? If so, what's the corkage charge and should I plan to bring our own wineglasses again?

I've been proselytizing for chowhounds to my sister and brother-in-law. When I told them Melanie carries wine glasses in her trunk for wine service emergencies, they were awed (as am I).

Eeegads, I forgot to ask (my concentration is limited these days). I will call this afternoon to inquire, and then post the answer on the board.

I attend a wine-tasting or two every week and need to be sure that I have the proper utensils and clean glasses for all situations. I have a dozen of the Zinfandel shape, a dozen chimney tasters for older wines and full-bodied wines, and 10 Riedel gourmet-style for general purpose. One time when I told a friend that I kept 34 wine glasses in the trunk at all times, he said, "Melanie, is this a cry for help?" (vbg)

        Of course I'm interested!!!

Our Consul General is retiring, which is a shame as he's very sharp and a good sport.

Instead of enjoying the wonders of Southeast Asia, I'll be hoisting a glass of bad wine (but British owned, of course) and contemplating platters of:

        a) recently thawed Contessa shrimp from Costco with bilious red sauce

        b) hot cheese blobs stuffed with green olives

        c) the good old stand by, sausage rolls. served cold.

So, not to worry, my thoughts DEFINATELY will be with you all.... ;)

We'll be sure to have a silent toast to your misfortune, in between the loud slurping of noodles!

If I understood correctly, there is a $10.00 per table corkage charge at Banana Garden -- regardless of number of bottles -- which sounds fair enough to me! There is also wine served there.

Thanks for the research, Rachel. That sounds fine.
