All this talk about dim sum
- Ruth Lafler
I have a couple of questions:
Harbor Village (which I patronize because its right across the street from my office) serves its roast duck on a bed of some kind of reddish-brown nut/bean-like object. What is it?
Secondly, considering all the discussion on this board of dim sum, has there ever been a chowhound dim sum meeting? And if not, why not?
I walked right into that one, didn't I (g)?
Maybe after this upcoming Banana Garden dinner (which I'm going to try to get to). Meanwhile, we can discuss the pros and cons of various places. I'm tempted to suggest Peony, since it doesn't seem that many people here have tried it. I've only been there once, and only in a party of two, so I can't really claim I'm "familiar" with it. About all I can say is that it's somewhat more upscale than Jade Villa and employs the controversial tray service instead of carts.
I'd love to go there with some of the dim sum mavens here and explore some of their more unusual offerings.
