I had a really great birthday dinner at Watergate restaurant on Valencia Street. Despite the location, I was very impressed with the food and the prices. They have a $25 prix fixe menu and all the items are excellent. The food is a combination of French and Chinese and the service was great. The lobster martini and chocolate cake was especially good. I can't believe more people have not been here or even heard of it. I guess the location and the name may have thrown people off. If you get a chance, you should definitely check it out!

  1. I had a pretty good dinner there, but that was 2 years ago. Sea bass cooked en papillote with white wine and rosemary was very good - is it still on the menu? I heard that prices have risen quite a bit since, so I haven't returned.

There was a seabass dish there that was really excellent. I don't know if it is the same dish - I think it had a potato crust on it. Soooo good......
