very small chowhound dinner with very short notice...

  • r

after the thread about san wang (which i somehow missed!) there was some interest in a dinner there, so this coming tues. night we have a small table reserved at 7:00.

in the interest of fairness, seats will go to whom ever expresses interest first.

i'll be out for the rest of the day, but will do my best to confirm by tomorrow (thur) evening.

San Wang is located at 1682 Post St., 921-1453

Count me in!!! This was very fortuitous as I just happened to spot a post from an old friend in San Diego, Bob Foster, who will be in The City next week. I will look forward to seeing him next week as well as meeting some of the Chowhounds. I would like to bring my wife and 3 1/2 year old son but do not know about the scope of the reservation. If someone knows, please let me know. Also, apologies in advance if inquiring about bringing family is considered unacceptable; since this is first dinner, unsure of the ground rules. Thanks. Looking forward to it.

also unsure about bringing children, especailly those of an age that'd require much attention from parents. my other quandry, not having been there, is the actual restaurant itself. i know the one dinner i have attendeed was quite the bustle of conversation from one end of the table to the other and wonder how much attention would need to be diverted to your little one. i certainly would welcome anyone's experienced opinion in this matter.

have had some private contact which would suggest that these dinners are adult oriented and so small in scope that the presence of a child might be better suited to another type of dinner when other children might also be present.

i don't by any means mean to be exclusive, but from what i understand it seems to work out better when only adults are involved. please forgive me for being the bearer of bad news.

there has been talk of a very casual chow gathering this summer which i think would be the perfect time for little chowhounds to get to know one another.

thanks Rochelle, I suspected as much but just wanted to be sure. I will fly solo for this one and look forward to the next event where we can bring the little chowhounds. See you Tuesday.

Count me in! (I'm travelling alone on this trip) Thanks for setting this up! We'll see what we think of Melanie's rave (vbg)

I'm only on the hook if you don't like the noodles or dumplings...that's the extent of my experience there. Not all the noodle dishes use the hand-pulled noodles so be sure to check with the server. Enjoy!

      2. I'd love to join and will look forward to finally meeting local chowhounds! Any parking suggestions?
        Thanks for organizing.

If you can't find a spot on the street, there's always space in the Japantown lot across the street.

        2. first of all sorry for the non-direct link i tried to post, secondly,
i apologize for it taking me so long to get back to this. unforseeable delay.
