Crawfish Fest - anyone been?

Celery Jun 3, 2001 01:43 AM

So has anyone been to the Crawfish Festival up in Isleton? What with all this talk of Cajun Pacific and the folks on the NY board looking for crawfish - it's making me hungry!

We'd done the New Orleans by the Bay a few years ago (mainly for a boiled crawfish fix) - but having heard about this festival in Isleton, thought we'd give it a try - is it worth the drive?

I have not been, but would love to know more about this festival... There was a Jazz/Cajun fest that I missed over Memorial Day weekend in Old Sacramento. Isn't Isleton near Sacramento as well? Please let me know if there's a web site or somthing that will give me the skinny - Thanks!! -P

Below's the link to the Isleton Chamber of Commerce and Crawfish Fest. Think there's a map on there as well for directions. Sounds fun! I'll just have to check it out and let you all know.

      It's June 15, 16 and 17.

We did go. It was HOT! Not really conducive to eating - at 100 degrees (or almost). It was your typical food/neighborhood festival. Lots of booths with trinkets and tshirts. Cajun type foods - sausages, crawfish etoufees, fried foods, of course boiled crawfish and Budweiser to drink. The most appealing things in that heat were the shaved ice and lemonade!

I had a huge container of crawfish - they were using the stryrofoam take out containers - small and large - $10 for small, $20 for large. Tasty - but next time I get the crawfish craving, think I'll just order some from Monterey Fish Market and put some zydeco on the stereo!
(or maybe head out and try that place out in the Avenues that Limster has posted on!)

Hmmm, that sounds "lovely". Now we know...
